Getting ready the morning of your wedding day can be one of the most intimate and special parts of your wedding day. I am sure you are you wanting to make the most of your getting ready experience but you are worried items or moments will get missed or overlooked during the stress and chaos of the morning. These can be moments with your photographer present as well as without! I have experienced my fair share of wedding morning butterflies, glamor, fun, and chaos! So here are my top five getting ready tips and tricks to help you get the most of your wedding morning.
Remember: Your wedding day is just that, YOUR day! You can do whatever your heart desires! But your day goes by quick, and you should be stress free! So these tips are to simply help with that!
Natural light not only makes for stunning images, but it makes your space feel larger than it is! So if you have multiple people in your space the morning of your wedding, it won’t feel as crammed!
This is something I highly recommend. I recommend this specifically to avoid added stress if you have to worry about transportation to and from the salon! In addition, the added stress if you take longer at the salon as planned! There truly is nothing better than you and your girls getting glammed in a bright space in your pjs, drinking mimosas, getting ready to have the best day you could have ever imagined.
My third tip is probably one that I highly highly highly stress to my brides!! Get your hair and makeup done in the middle of your group – Not last. I know what you are thinking “well i want my hair and makeup to last all day. What if it falls? What if I cry and my makeup gets ruined?” This is common stress for brides to worry about, but I want you to revisit the fact that you hired a professional! And I am sure you did this for a reason. They are great at their job and they know what they are doing! That is why you hired them!
On top of this, I fully recommend getting ready in the middle of your group because after that you can relax with your girls, watch them get ready, and just breathe. This will allow you to be relaxed about time, rather than crunched and rushed. It additionally allows for you to be ready as soon as your photographer arrives! Plus, Your hairstylist and makeup artist are still there if you decide you want something changed or fixed. Imagine you are about to walk down the aisle and your hair starts falling out? Or you have one random piece of hair driving you crazy! Or what if you look in the mirror after your makeup artist leaves and you decide you want more bronzer or blush. This way there is no need to panic, because the professionals are there to fix anything!
Okay, onto the details! Now your photographer likely will not be with you from the start of your morning. By doing this, it allows you to get the most of your shot, simply because you would have your items ready to go. This would include your jewelry, shoes, perfume, a extra set of invitations, maybe some extra florals. Any little details you are including in your day should go in this box. Then tell one of your bridesmaids or maid of honor to give it to your photographer once they arrive! I don’t want you worrying about hunting items down!
Enjoy your moment. Like i said before, it goes by so fast! So enjoy it. Do not worry about getting the perfect shot, looking at the camera, or worrying about what comes next. The more present you are, the more authentic your photos will be. Do not worry – you will get the shots of you putting your shoes on, and getting into your dress. But those moments with your girls, or your mom, or anyone who is close to you – we can not force. Those come naturally.
The morning of your wedding FLIES BY. Everyone will tell you that, but believe me – it does. I want you to be fully present and have the best morning of your life, those butterflies are there for a reason.
